Infinium Solar, Roofing and Electric recently had the privilege of volunteering as a team at Martha’s Kitchen in San Jose. As a company, we’re mindful of the growing challenges of food insecurity, whether close to home or highlighted across the country, and we wanted to come together to do something meaningful for people who need support. Martha’s Kitchen reminds us that “1 in 5 individuals in our region don’t know where their next meal will come from.” Hearing that statistic put the importance of their work into perspective and strengthened our desire to help in any way we could.
When our team arrived on Wednesday evening, aprons on and ready to work, the first thing that struck us wasn’t the task, it was the people. The warm smiles from the clients, the small conversations shared while handing out trays, and the simple gratitude in their “thank you”s made the experience. Many of us walked in wanting to contribute, but we quickly realized we were also there to connect, to listen, and to be present for our neighbors in a meaningful way.

In addition to volunteering in the kitchen, our team also participated in Martha’s Kitchen’s food drive. Many of our employees contributed donations to help stock their pantry, knowing that these items support their ongoing efforts to provide meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity. It was a simple but important way for us to extend our impact beyond the hours we spent onsite.

Our team spent the evening preparing and serving warm meals to those in need. Working side by side, colleagues from every department assembled dishes and poured drinks with care. We learned from Martha’s Kitchen’s experienced staff, doing our best to follow their lead and help where it was needed. No task was too small; every role was approached with respect and a willingness to contribute. We believe that real teamwork is not just about working together in the office, it is also about showing up for others when it matters.
Throughout the day, we were struck by the warmth and gratitude of the people we served. We saw firsthand how a hot meal and a friendly smile can brighten someone’s day. Many of us were deeply humbled by the experience. It is one thing to talk about community service and another to stand on the front lines of it. Our volunteers left Martha’s Kitchen with a renewed appreciation for the tireless work their staff and volunteers do every day. It was a powerful reminder that the strength of a community is measured by how we take care of each other. In serving others, we found ourselves enriched with empathy and perspective.

This volunteer visit was not about personal recognition or accolades. It was about living out our company’s values. At Infinium Solar, Roofing and Electric, one of our core beliefs is that success is not just measured by the projects we complete but also by the positive impact we make in our community. Working together at Martha’s Kitchen allowed our team to reinforce bonds with each other while contributing to a cause larger than ourselves. It showed us that when we combine our efforts, we can make a meaningful difference beyond our daily work in solar, roofing, and electrical services.
In closing, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Martha’s Kitchen for welcoming our team and for the critical work they do to feed our neighbors in need. This experience has strengthened our commitment to continue serving our community in any way we can. Going forward, the Infinium Solar, Roofing and Electric team remains dedicated to supporting local initiatives and volunteering our time and energy to uplift others. Our day at Martha’s Kitchen was not a one-time event but part of an ongoing promise. As our company grows, so will our efforts to give back. Together, as a team and as members of the community, we will keep striving to make a positive difference – one meal, one neighbor, one act of service at a time.
Martha’s Kitchen began in 1981 with a simple act of kindness, sandwiches made in a San Jose garage for hungry neighbors. Today, it has grown into a vital regional resource, serving more than 200,000 meals each month across multiple counties. With the support of volunteers, partners, and their new Food Hub in East San Jose, Martha’s Kitchen continues its mission to provide dignified, nutritious meals to seniors, families, and individuals in need.
